Trail Challenge Clinic with Keith Danielson,

2-day Horsemanship/Trail Challenge Clinic, $275
July 21-22, 2012
9am - 4pm

   contact Karen Plumlee at MissionFarrierSchool@hotmail.com

An introductory clinic to what is called "Trail Challenge", where horse and rider maneuver through obstacles such as cross poles, side pass logs, creative stair-step tires, tunnels, curtains, bridges, mail boxes, back thru poles, etc.  These competitions are growing nation wide.  It's a lot of fun that can be done at any age, on any kind of horse.   It builds confidence between the horse and rider, and builds horsemanship skills.

This clinic will focus on Horsemanship Instruction and managing the Trail Challenge Obstacles for both horse and rider. Day One will focus on making a willing connection with your horse, giving to the bit, flexing vertically and laterally, becoming more responsive to your leg, getting the rib cage to move away, and controlling the front and hind quarters independently. Day Two will refine those exercises, then take them to the trail challenge course in the field. We will finish up "putting it all together" with a friendly competition. All riders should be at the intermediate level or above. While this is not a clinic for beginner riders or green horses, you do not need to have attended a trail challenge clinic before, however your horse must be broke to ride. Come prepared to work hard and take yourself and your horse to the next level.

Keith is a great instructor, excellent horseman and has been very successful at the national level, at this discipline.  He started his career many years ago Buckarooing for ranches in Montana and Wyoming and also for some of the big outfits in Nevada where being a good horseman is a priority.  Keith earned a good name starting colts, and developed his style with influence from the methods inspired by Ray Hunt.  You can find out more about Keith at www.hoopercrossingranch.com.

After visiting the Bitterroot Valley in the summer of 2000, Kathy Valentine decided she wanted to call it home. The beautiful mountains and an active horse community with friendly people were reason enough for her to re-locate her business Heart Centered Equine Academy from Mount Vernon WA, to Victor Montana.

Kathy has been showing and professionally training horses for over 25 years. She is also a Certified Professional Peak Performance Coach, Author and Lecturer. In 1999 she completed the John Lyons certification program and was chosen by John to be part of his select trainer group: selected because of her proven ability to teach both people and horses his methods. In the 25 + years in the equine business Kathy has not only been training horses and teaching people horsemanship, but has developed an extensive apprenticeship program teaching upcoming trainers how to train horses, coach students and how to operate a successful, and professional equine business.

She also has developed a powerful program called Move forward in Riding and in Life a 16 week study course for those who want to learn more about themselves and their equine partners. Kathy travels part of the year giving demonstrations at symposiums and conducting horse/rider clinics all over the US.
