MFS operates out of the Tygh Valley Fairgrounds in Wasco County, Oregon. We provide students with a well-equipped professional shoeing shop with forges and anvils to use during class. For student learning, we have a public clientele who bring their personal horses to class, as well as access to two large herds of safe camp horses for students to work on and learn from.
The school is well equipped to provide general, performance and therapeutic shoeing, as well as quality barefoot maintenance.
Mission Farrier School also has access to pens and stalls for layups or long-term therapeutic care, round pens for young horses or horses who might have a more difficult time being trimmed or shod. This gives our students an opportunity to learn horsemanship skills specifically as it relates to shoeing and meeting the needs of the horse.
We love working with local or semi-local equine professionals such as vets, body workers, trainers etc. to provide holistic care to our equine friends.
Students may also opt to take advantage of the nearby Hunt RV park with full hookups, a bathhouse facility, and free (slow) wifi. The park is just steps away from the MFS shoeing shop.
from Wasco County Website: Hunt Park is a picturesque park located in Tygh Valley, Oregon at the base of Mount Hood.
